House’s Kutner is dead

April 8th, 2009

On Monday nights I tune into the TV show ‘House’, but only if it’s a new episode. This Monday’s show was shocking, however. Kutner commits suicide?! Why?? I actually really liked him on the show. It was nice seeing an Indian actor on one of primetime’s top rated and most viewed shows. So as I was watching his colleagues discover him dead at his apartment, I immediately asked Google: “Why is Kutner from House dead?!” I think that’s exactly what I typed into Google’s search engine. I was panicked and weirded out after all! Everything seemed fine on the show. He didn’t show any sign of being suicidal or depressed. Even House himself didn’t see it coming. I wonder how the show will continue now. I’m pretty sure they will bring in someone else to replace him. Maybe someone hot, a female possibly? Anyway, so back to my Google search. I actually found a lot of random posts on the web from House viewers. Some were saying Kal Penn is actually dead. Some were calling those people idiots for saying that and why would he be dead in real life and why haven’t we found out about it way before the episode aired. Blah blah blah. I didn’t believe Kal Penn was actually dead, but I wondered why he left the show? I figured maybe he found a better gig or something of that nature. But then again, you’d think House is a pretty good gig in itself, for an Indian actor at least. So the next day, a friend of mine linked me to an article explaining why Kal Penn left the show. (My friend knew I was kind of freaking out about this and just happened to stumble upon this article.) According to the article, Kal Penn was offered a job at the White House! Here’s what he told the reporter when asked exactly what the new job is: “The job itself is that I will be an associate director in the White House Office of Public Liaison, and what the OPL does is similar in a sense to what I was doing on the campaign. What they try and do is take the administration itself out of Washington, so they go into communities across the country, continue the sorts of dialogue people had started during the campaign and basically ensure that a bunch of citizens’ views about their elected officials, about their government are all happening and that they’re working effectively. Make sure that a lot of these new voices that have emerged — especially during the campaign season — are brought to the table — Democrats, Republicans, everyone in between - and to build those relationships and kind of embody the types of changes that President Obama had run on.” Wow, that’s incredible I thought. Good for him. After finding this out, I’m totally okay with it and would very much like him to succeed in his new found position. I know he will make a difference serving President Obama and the country. He must! I guess all you Kumar fans will have to wait quite some time before the next movie comes out. I’m pretty sure there will be one, but most likely in the distant future. Stay tuned folks!

These horoscopes are more accurate than ever. I absolutely feel like I shouldn’t wait at all.
