Adventures at UPS Customer Center

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

So I learned my lesson last night. From now on, I’m only going to ship items I buy online to work or when I know someone is home to sign my package. A week ago, I bought this fabulous Foley + Corinna Mid City Tote from stefanibags.com for a great price. The original price for the bag was $444, HOWEVER, I found a coupon code (i heart coupon codes!) online for 25% off. On top of that, shipping was free, no tax or fees were added AND they sent me a FREE earth friendly tote! So anyway, back to my story. Turns out the UPS guy showed up at my house half an hour before I got home. I just missed him! The yellow slip indicated he will be back the next day and the next day after that if no one is home to sign for it. That’s when I decided to call UPS to arrange for a pickup since no one will be home the next few days and I want my new bag ASAP. Minutes later, he called me and told me to pick up my package between 8-9pm at the UPS Customer Center all the way across town. Fine. Off I go at around 7:30pm hoping to pick up my package right when I arrive at 8pm, so I won’t have to miss too much of American Idol (i heart matt (giraud) buble!) When I walked in, there was already a crowd of people standing around a long metal table. But they weren’t in line (which I thought was strange). OK, I show the lady my ID and yellow slip, expecting her to hand my package over after she checks inside. NOPE. She comes out and tells me the driver just got in and to wait for them to bring my package out. Half an hour later, I’m still waiting along with all the other people who had packages on the same truck. WOW, I tell myself, this bag better be worth it! Before paying this place a visit, I’ve never even realized how many packages must come and go on a single day. And this is just UPS. I saw people get frustrated their package wasn’t there. I saw people who didn’t follow the protocol and ended up there only having to come back the next day. I would hate to be them, especially since I live all the way across town and it took me at least half an hour to drive there. Anyway, I never thought I would be so overwhelmed with joy when the lady finally called my street (she was referring to everyone waiting as the street they lived on). Yes! I got my package and my $333 bag is safe! I came home and immediately transferred all my items to my new bag and I love it so far. I better right? It cost me a few fun activities, including snowboarding, but I couldn’t say no to a great deal on a designer bag. Here are some pictures of my fabulous new bag!
